Happy Fourth!

From our family to your family, we wish you a relaxed and enjoyable weekend! Timeless Interiors is closed Friday July 3rd to celebrate the holiday weekend. We are planning on having a down home country picnic with lots of grilled goodness, blueberry pie and sweet lemonade and we wish the same for you! 

I love picnics.

For many years I dreamed of creating a Picnic store...baskets and small treats, dressings, teas, lemonades, cookies, pie plates, coolers, blankets, etc. How fun would that be!!?? 🍷

As Fourth of July approaches, and many have altered their usual plans, perhaps just a simple family picnic is the best way to celebrate. Family is what it’s all About. This year: Celebrate the freedoms we take for granted. Celebrate the freedom to love, have and be with family. Celebrate health. ❤️

But we still love a good old fashioned picnic or cookout even if it might be a little smaller and a little different than it has in the past.

The traditional all American pie is always the perfect accoutrement to a picnic. Apple or Blueberry...I’m a big fan of Strawberry-Rhubarb.

Of course before the desserts, grilled chicken or steaks, the usual burgers n dogs and of course all manner of salads.

What are some of your favorite recipes for a picnic?

As I was perusing cookbooks, I came across this one I’d saved with great recipes for the perfect picnic. “PICNICS-OVER 40 RECIPES FOR DINING IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS” a collection of recipes edited by Heidi Haughy Cusick. The images are beautiful.

Here’s my recipe for my favorite summer salad:

My version of the Italian Classic Caprese Salad

2lbs Ripe Tomatoes, cut and chopped chunky 1 red onion very thinly sliced small pieces 2 or 3 cucumber sliced in halves thinly 6 to 8 Oz of fresh mozzerella thickly sliced

Newman’s Own Balsamic Vinegarette Dressing Lowrys Seasoned Salt Salt n Pepper Garlic Powder Dried basil

Fresh basil

Slice and chop all ingredients.

In a large bowl, mixed together leaving the mozzerella out for now.

Sprinkle salt n pepper and garlic powder generously.

Add mozzerella. Add a sprinkle of dried basil.

Drizzle dressing and a sprinkle of Lowrys Seasoned Salt. Toss.

Add a some fresh basil leaves for garnish. Serve cold. ENJOY! Have a great weekend!! Thank you for following us! We love you!
